The All Progressives Congress on Wednesday inaugurated its National Convention Central Coordinating Committee, ahead of the APC National Convention.
APC has scheduled its national convention for 27th to 28th of March 2026.
Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, the APC National Chairman, in his remarks echoed the significance of the event in the progressive journey of the party.
Addressing all committee members, Yilwatda urged them to uphold transparency, inclusivity, and credibility in planning and delivering a convention befitting the stature of the ruling APC.
He called upon them to prioritize the party’s interests over personal sentiments and strive for excellence within the limited timeframe.
Yilwatda assured the committee of the full support of the National Working Committee and the party structure, providing resources, cooperation, and goodwill to ensure the successful execution of their mandate.
He concluded by declaring that the National Convention 2026, signals the beginning of a process aimed at strengthening the party and renewing the collective will of its members.
“Let the good of this party, the color of APC guide you in every decision that you make. Time is of the essence. And I expect nothing short of excellence from each and every one of you.”Professor Nentawe Yilwatda.
Masari emphasized the committee’s commitment to upholding civility, duty, and the ideals of the party. He acknowledged the distinguished colleagues in the committee, including former Senate President Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, as Vice Chairman 1, Governor Abduraman Abubabar of Kwara state, Governor Hope Uzordimma of Imo state, and Treasurer Mai Mala Buni, among others.
Masari outlined the committee’s objectives to ensure a peaceful, credible, and successful 2026 national convention, emphasizing the need for maturity, fairness, and adherence to the party’s constitution and guidelines. He stressed the importance of unity, transparency, and respect for internal democracy in the party’s processes.
The committee is tasked with coordinating activities leading to a successful convention, aiming to strengthen and unify the party while reinforcing confidence in its internal mechanisms.
As the eyes of the nation turned towards the leadership of the APC, Masari underscored the importance of discipline in internal affairs and safeguarding the party from individual ambitions that could undermine its unity. He concluded by emphasizing that a successful convention would not only lead to the party’s success but also serve to unite the APC.
“We must ensure discipline in our internal affairs and we must ensure the ambition of others does not lead to the destruction of the party. A successful convention will not only lead to our success but unite our party, the APC,” he said.
