The National Union of Taraba State Students, NUTSS, has condemned the alleged physical assault of a student by a security officer at Taraba State University
The Union, in a statement described the incident as unacceptable, stressing that no student should be subjected to violence or humiliation under any circumstances.
The statement which was signed by the union’s Vice President, Yusuf Yahaya Inuwa, emphasized that even when a student is accused of misconduct, established disciplinary procedures and due process must be followed in line with the university’s rules and regulations.
According to the statement, security personnel are tasked with maintaining order and ensuring safety on campus, not administering punishment.
