Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have repelled suspected insurgents and neutralised a suspected informant in Bornu State, NewsSpecng learnt.
According to the report, the troop carried out coordinated overnight operations in Ngamdu, Borno State.
Military sources told Zagazola Makama that the operation was prompted by actionable signals intelligence indicating that suspected Boko Haram fighters were massing in the area with plans to launch an attack.
According to the sources, at about 2:30 am on February 18, troops executed a fire mission on the identified location, disrupting the insurgents’ movement and forcing them to disperse.
The fire mission effectively scattered the terrorists and thwarted their suspected plan,” a source familiar with the operation said.
Shortly after, at about 3:45 am, troops engaged and neutralised a suspected insurgent informant who allegedly attempted to breach the trench defensive position in Ngamdu.
The suspect tried to infiltrate the defensive trench but was engaged and neutralised by vigilant troops,” the source added.
Following the encounter, soldiers conducted a sweep of the surrounding area to track fleeing suspects but made no further contact.
Operation Hadin Kai has continued sustained counter-insurgency operations across parts of Borno and the North-East, targeting insurgent enclaves and disrupting planned attacks.
