2027: Tinubu’s APC is jittery of a united ADC opposition… Senator Abdullahi Idris UmarA former Minister of Transport and a Chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator Abdullahi Idris Umar has expressed the readiness of his party to capture power from the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in Gombe State and across the country.

Abdullahi Idris, who once represented Gombe Central in the Senate, was optimistic of the party’s success while answering questions from newsmen shortly after a high-powered stakeholders meeting in Gombe.

He said, the ruling APC party will naturally be jittery and will not want a united opposition. He pointed out that the ADC stands as the most formidable opposition at the moment following the it’s unity in Gombe State and across the country.

According to him, the party in Gombe State is united under the Chairmanship of Auwal Barde and Danladi Ya’u as Secretary, while the transition committee Chairman is Dr John Lazarus Yoriyo, a former Deputy Governor in the State with Dr Gana as the Secretary.

He stated that the meeting was held to reaffirm the unity of the party in the State adding, “once you’re united, you know you’re strong and this portends serious success for the party in the State and across Nigeria.

“With this unity, reconciliation among ourselves, we are now stronger and ready to face any challenges as we move towards the coming elections.

“We hope to form the next Government in Gombe State and the country as well as have majority in the Senate, House of Representatives and State Assembly members.

He also announced that the party will soon commence membership drive adding that, “this will include registration of new party members, revalidation of new membership and by February to March, the party will hold Congresses across the country.

“Therefore, everybody will be carried on board and accommodated, there will be a level playing ground for everyone, and we will be fair and just”, he stressed.

State Secretary of the party, Malam Danladi Ya’u, who also spoke to Journalists confirmed that there were factions in the party but which ended at the meeting.

He said, “there was before but today, 21st January, 2026, ADC has no factions in Gombe State. We are one and united under the party leadership of Senator Abdullahi Idris Umar and Chairman Malam Auwal Barde and his team.

“Recently, the Court reaffirmed the leadership of our National Chairman, Senator David Mark and Secretary, HE Rauf Aregbesola which allowed them to move into politicking”, he stated.

He called on party members to remain calm as the party’s registration cards are on the way coming. “Those with old membership cards will be revalidated”, he assured.

He also called on the people of Gombe State to go and obtain their voters cards stressing that it stands as the only way to exercise their franchise.

“Without voters card, you can can’t make a positive change possible so that when the time comes, you’ll cast your votes to the right candidates”, he advised.
