Police seek owner of abandoned vehicle in Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command has recovered a suspected stolen vehicle abandoned in Abeokuta, the state capital.
The silver-coloured Toyota RAV4 Jeep, suspected to have been stolen, was found abandoned at the Somorin area of Obantoko, Abeokuta, on Saturday, January 17, 2026.

This is according to the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi in a Facebook post on Saturday.
Authorities said it is investigating the circumstances surrounding the abandonment and possible theft of the vehicle, he concluded.

Babaseyi noted that the vehicle has been taken to the police station for safekeeping, while the Command is appealing to members of the public to help trace the owner.

The statement read, “A silver-coloured Toyota RAV4 Jeep was suspected to have been stolen and abandoned at the Somorin Area of Obantoko, Abeokuta, on 17/01/2026. The vehicle has been taken to the station for safekeeping.”

Babaseyi said that anyone with useful information about the owner should contact the PPRO of the Ogun State Command.

He said, “Anyone with useful information regarding the owner is advised to contact the PPRO, Ogun State Command, on 08162382281.”
