Popular Nollywood actress and media personality Regina Daniels denied allegations of drug abuse.
Daniels said the claims were false, damaging, and deeply hurtful.
In an emotional statement shared on her instagram at the start of the new year, she vowed to clear her name and reclaim her narrative.
Daniels opened up on what she described as one of the most difficult periods of her life, marked by intense scrutiny, speculation, and what she called “noise” across social media and parts of the media space.
“The past few months of my life have been nothing short of heavy,” the actress said, reflecting on a season she described as a major turning point that shook her to her core. According to her, the experience felt like watching “everything I had ever known drowning right in front of me.”
Despite the pressure, Daniels said she survived the period through overwhelming love and support from her family, close friends, and members of the public who stood by her during the storm.
“But here’s the plot twist,” she noted. “I didn’t drown with it.”
The actress explained that the decision to speak out and take steps to address the allegations was driven by a sense of responsibility to those who support and look up to her. She stressed that integrity, accountability, and peace of mind informed her choice to confront the rumors head-on.
“One thing that echoed loudly across the media was, ‘Regina is a drug addict,’” she said. “I paused, then I checked again. I looked at myself in the mirror repeatedly, searching for this so-called addict.”
Daniels dismissed the allegations as baseless, suggesting they were a projection of other people’s insecurities rather than a reflection of reality.
“Projection is not reality, and noise is not truth,” she said.
Emphasizing the importance of self-definition, the actress said she has chosen not to be shaped by public opinion but to consciously rebuild her image on her own terms.
“Do you allow yourself to be defined by other people’s opinions, or do you create your own narrative?” she asked. “As for me, I choose the latter every single time. The same mouth that was used to spoil my name is the same mouth that will build it back up.”
Daniels described the current phase of her life as a chapter of self-discovery, growth, and intentional living, adding that her faith has been a constant source of strength throughout the ordeal.
“I thank God endlessly for His grace, His strength, and His excellence in my life,” she said. “If there’s one thing I know for sure, it’s that He has carried me through it all.”
