Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has welcomed a one party democracy for Nigeria. He said, it has brought progress and performance.

The Governor stated this when he hosted the North-East Zonal Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Initiative, Malam Isa Yuguda, at the Government House, Gombe.

Governor Inuwa’s remarks is coming when his party, the All Progressive Congress (APC) has lately been witnessing an influx from opposition party members.

Many opposition party Governors, Senators, House of Representativesp members and State Assembly members across the country have recently decamped from their party platforms, particularly from the PDP, LP and the NNPP into the ruling APC.

Observing the political landscape, he expressed optimism about growing confidence in the APC across the country saying, “If Nigeria eventually becomes a one-party nation as a result of progress and performance, so be it, provided it delivers development and improved welfare for the Nigerian people”.

He stated also that, “As Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum, the majority of us are APC Governors, just as the Federal Government is APC. We all emerged under the Renewed Hope mantra, which truly encapsulates the ideals and principles upon which our party is built”.

Governor Inuwa emphasized that Gombe State remains an APC stronghold and assured the delegation of a warm reception and productive engagement, always.

He then called on party members and stakeholders to remain focused, confront challenges decisively and ensure that the Renewed Hope Initiative reaches every corner of the country.

Speaking earlier, Malam Isa Yuguda commended Governor Inuwa Yahaya for his leadership qualities, describing him as a symbol of stability, justice and equity in the North-East.

“As Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum and a key leader in the North-East, we look up to him and revere him greatly”, Yuguda, a former Governor of Bauchi State said.

He pointed out that the primary responsibility of governance is the protection of lives and property. While acknowledging the importance of infrastructure, Yuguda stressed that peace and security remain a sacred trust between leaders and the Almighty.

On the Renewed Hope Initiative, Yuguda described it as a comprehensive programme aimed at fulfilling President Tinubu’s promise to improve the lives of ordinary Nigerians.

According to Yuguda, the initiative will now focus on sensitising Nigerians on Government policies, reforms and development programmes, while also serving as a platform for grassroots engagement and empowerment.

“This is not about distributing rice or flour. It is about training people in small-scale businesses and ensuring that their products are purchased so they do not operate at a loss.

“Our target is to empower about 1,000 people per ward nationwide. Even achieving 50 percent would be a remarkable success,” he said.

He added that empowering citizens at the grassroots would stimulate economic activity, boost purchasing power, and enhance overall quality of life.

End.
