The 2023 Gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe State, Mohammed Jibrin Barde, has formerly declared his membership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

He made the declaration along with some notable bigwigs of the PDP before newsmen in Gombe and assured that the ADC is battle ready to confront the current security and socio-economic challenges confronting Nigeria.

Jibrin Barde said Chieftains in the ADC party that go by the slogan “sabuwar tafiya” in Hausa which means “new movement”, had been navigating across various personalities and sectors of the country for the past one year with the aim of rescuing Nigeria.

According to him, “For over a year now, there has been a very big movement across the country that we have been working on across the country with our leaders, under the leadership of various heavy political leaders across the country.

“This includes the former Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, former Governors, the former presidential candidate of the LP, former ministers, quite a number of them are all in this movement to rescue the country from the current situation that we’re faced with: insecurity, the economy, and of course the state of our social infrastructure across the country”, he explained.

He explained further that, “we’ve been working assiduously to make sure that there is an option for Nigerians. Despite all the stumbling blocks that we have come across over the years, we’ve been able to stabilize the new movement that is now the ADC.

He noted that having been working on the movement, the party has now formally issued circulars regarding its own schedule of activities, including membership registration, revalidation of members adding that, “like us who are already members, and also mobilizing new members into the party”.

“In addition to that”, Jibrin Barde pointed out “we will hold our congresses sometime in January ending, by the end of January, right from the unit to the ward, to the local government, to the state. And then we’ll have a non-elective national convention that will come up in February.

“So having released this circular and timetable, it is important that we come home, all of us here that are members, and also our other colleagues across the state to call upon them to make sure that they fully participate in revalidation of their membership and also assist in mobilizing the entire state to join the party”, he explained.

He also reiterated the unity of the ADC in Gombe State saying, “I’m not aware of any faction in Gombe. We are united. God has provided us with quite a large number of members already. If you think that there is anybody that is having issues, we don’t know anyone. We are fully committed to rescue the state”.

End.
