The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Wednesday announced 10 December 2025 date for the conclusion of the first phase of the ongoing nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
INEC also announced the commencement of the display of registers from 15 December 2025.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, 3rd December 2025, the Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Mrs. Victoria Eta-Messi, disclosed that the first quarter of the CVR will formally end on 10th December 2025.
The first phase began with online pre-registration on 18th August 2025, followed by in-person registration which commenced on 25th August 2025.

Mrs. Eta-Messi explained that, in line with Section 19 of the Electoral Act 2022, the Display of the Register of Voters for Claims and Objections will take place from 15th to 21st December 2025.

INEC urged eligible citizens especially those who newly registered, transferred their voting locations, or updated their information to use the opportunity to verify their details, correct errors, and draw attention to the inclusion of ineligible or deceased persons.

The Commission reported a total of 9,891,801 online pre-registrations since the exercise commenced. Out of this figure, 2,572,054 registrations have been fully completed nationwide.

This includes 1,503,832 online completions and 1,068,222 physical registrations as of 28th November 2025.

Mrs. Eta-Messi restated that registration activities in Anambra State and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) remain suspended due to ongoing electoral activities. She reassured the public that new dates for resumption of the CVR in these areas will be announced in due course.

The Director further announced that the second phase of the nationwide CVR will resume on 5th January 2026, consistent with previously released timelines.

Reaffirming INEC’s commitment to maintaining a credible, transparent, and inclusive Register of Voters, Mrs. Eta-Messi called for sustained public cooperation as the nation continues to improve its democratic processes.
