The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has announced plans to host the maiden edition of the Digital Economy Awareness and Sensitization Fora, a strategic platform designed to strengthen Nigeria’s policy framework, innovation drive, and inclusive participation in the digital economy.
The event, themed “Leaving No One Behind: Digital Assets, Equity, and Empowerment,” is scheduled to hold on Thursday, November 13, 2025, and will convene industry experts, policymakers, innovators, and community stakeholders to discuss practical strategies for bridging Nigeria’s digital divide and fostering sustainable national development.
According to the NCC, the fora aim to create a conducive environment for building infrastructure that supports innovation and inclusion, while addressing the gaps between policy formulation and infrastructure deployment in the country’s digital sector.
The Commission explained that the sessions will focus on inclusive digital policy design, accessible infrastructure deployment, adaptive digital literacy programmes, and advocacy for affordability and accessibility of digital service particularly in underserved and rural communities.
Emphasizing Africa’s demographic advantage, the NCC noted that 60% of the continent’s population is under 25 years old, with Nigeria representing a significant share.
The Commission expressed its commitment to leveraging this youthful population as a key digital asset, while ensuring that all citizens, regardless of background or location, benefit from the opportunities offered by digital transformation.
The NCC reiterated its dedication to ensuring the safety of Nigeria’s over 140 million Internet users.
The fora, it said, are part of ongoing efforts to promote inclusive participation in the digital economy, bringing together regulators, academia, private sector players, civil society, and development partners to explore how digital access and innovation can drive empowerment, equity, and national growth.
The Digital Awareness and Sensitization Fora are being organized in collaboration with several key institutions and stakeholders, including the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF), National Orientation Agency (NOA), National Council of Women Societies (NCWS), Association of
Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (ATCON), FintechNGR, Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Terra Industries, Association of Nigerian Inventors (ANI), Secondary Education Board (SEB), National Universities Commission (NUC), Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD), Imose Technologies, and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
The event will feature panel discussions, exhibitions, and showcases by innovators, fintech firms, and students, offering a platform to demonstrate homegrown creativity and the expanding potential of Nigeria’s digital ecosystem.
To ensure broad participation, the event will also be livestreamed nationwide through a dedicated digital portal: scf.ncc.gov.ng.
