The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, as the winner of the November 8, 2025 Anambra State Governorship Election.

The declaration was made on Sunday at the INEC headquarters in Awka by the Returning Officer, Prof. Edoba Omoregie, who announced that Soludo scored a total of 422,664 votes to secure a resounding victory across all 21 local government areas of the state.

His closest rival, Hon. Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), came a distant second with 99,445 votes, while Sir Paul Chukwuma of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) garnered 37,753 votes to place third.

According to INEC, a total of 16 candidates contested the election. The state had 2,788,864 registered voters, out of which 598,229 were accredited to vote. 595,298 votes were cast in total, with 584,054 valid votes and 11,244 rejected ballots.

“After collating the results as entered in Form EC8E, it is my privilege to declare that Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of valid votes cast, is hereby declared the winner and returned elected.”

He noted that while there were isolated incidents in parts of Anambra West, Anaocha, Awka South, and Onitsha South Local Government Areas—resulting in the cancellation of 10,481 votes—the margin of lead between the top candidates was such that it did not affect the overall outcome.

Prof. Omoregie also commended the general peacefulness of the election, describing it as largely free, fair, and credible.
