The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has approved the extension of the ongoing collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in Anambra State, granting residents additional days to pick up their cards ahead of the November 8 Governorship Election.
The decision was reached at a meeting of the Commission held on Monday, October 27, 2025, following numerous appeals from citizens, political parties, civil society organisations, and other stakeholders requesting more time for eligible voters to collect their PVCs.
According to a statement signed by Mrs. Victoria Eta-Messi, Director of Voter Education and Publicity, the exercise, which was initially scheduled to end on Sunday, October 26, 2025, has now been extended from Wednesday, October 29, to Sunday, November 2, 2025.
The extension covers individuals who registered during the most recent Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise conducted in the state.
INEC urged all registered voters who are yet to collect their PVCs to take advantage of this extended window and visit any of the designated collection centres located across the 326 Registration Areas (Wards) in Anambra State.
The Commission emphasized that the collection of PVCs remains strictly personal and that no collection by proxy will be entertained.
“INEC appreciates the patience, enthusiasm, and cooperation of the good people of Anambra State,” the statement read. “We encourage all eligible voters to seize this opportunity to collect their PVCs and prepare to exercise their civic responsibility in the forthcoming Governorship Election.”
The extension is part of the Commission’s commitment to ensuring that no eligible voter is disenfranchised due to logistical challenges or timing constraints, as preparations intensify for a credible, inclusive, and transparent election in Anambra State.
