The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Joash Amupitan, SAN, has approved the appointment of Mr. Adedayo Eriye Oketola as his Chief Press Secretary (CPS).
The appointment, formally conveyed in a letter signed by the Secretary to the Commission, Mrs. Rose Oriaran-Anthony, on Friday, October 24, 2025, takes immediate effect.
Mr. Oketola, a distinguished journalist with nearly two decades of professional experience, previously served as Editor of The Punch Newspaper, where he earned recognition for his depth of reporting and editorial leadership.
According to Mrs. Oriaran-Anthony, Mr. Oketola’s appointment reflects the Commission’s commitment to transparency, professionalism, and effective communication.
She congratulated him on his new role and urged him to uphold the Commission’s values of integrity, accountability, and service to the Nigerian people.
“Your appointment comes at a time when effective media engagement is crucial to the Commission’s mission of delivering free, fair, and credible elections,” she stated
