The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has distanced itself from the fraudulent recruitment advert currently circulating on social media.

The Commission said it is not undertaking any employment exercise at the moment.

In a statement on Wednesday , INEC disclosed that the false advertorial, which has been shared widely online, misleads unsuspecting members of the public into believing that the Commission is recruiting for various positions. The impostors behind the scheme further directed applicants to a fake portal – inecrecruitment.com – to submit their details.

INEC categorically denied the existence of such a portal, stressing that it has no connection to the Commission’s official website or recruitment processes.

“The Commission hereby calls on the public to disregard this fraudulent call for applications. The Commission IS NOT recruiting. Do not fall victim to the antics of criminal elements,” the statement read.

The electoral body advised Nigerians to always rely on its official communication channels for verified information, noting that announcements regarding genuine recruitment or vacancies are only made through INEC’s website, verified social media handles, and credible national media platforms.

INEC further assured that security agencies have been notified and are working to identify and bring the perpetrators of the scam to justice.

The Commission urged citizens to remain vigilant and refrain from engaging with or sharing false information that could expose them to financial loss or identity theft.
