Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has described the defection of some prominent opposition PDP members into the ruling APC as the end of opposition is the State.
He told reporters shortly after a prominent PDP stalwart and business mogul, Jerry Joseph Damara, along with some PDP top-notchs from Gombe South, pledged loyalty to the APC during a courtesy call on him.
According to Governor Inuwa, “this is a very big moment that has signified that there is no more opposition in Gombe State because the backbone of the opposition has been broken.
“By the grace of God, we shall move as a family and ensure that the developmental efforts of this Government and that of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu are joined together to bring a faster development to the people and change the tide and improve on the lot of the people of Nigeria and Gombe State in particular.
“It is a very big day for us, we will celebrate and will continuously celebrate”, Governor Inuwa declared excitedly.
Earlier during the courtesy call, Jerry Joseph Damara, leading a former Deputy Governor, Tha’anda Jason Rubainu, a former NASS Member, Hon Adamu Gora Kalba, a former minority leader in the State Assembly, Hon Rambi Ibrahim Ayala among many others, said he was inspired into the APC because of the developmental strides of the Inuwa led Government in the State.
He said, as a construction man, seeing constructions going on in many parts of the State and the entrenched security, attracted him the more into the APC, adding, “construction is the heartbeat of a State.
“You can not change a State without construction. Governor Inuwa is construction, Governor Inuwa is security”, he commended.
He stated also that their defection was not merely a decamping, but it was a movement stressing, “we have taken a decision and opposition has finished in Gombe, assuring that they will not joke with loyalty by the grace of God.
While displaying their APC membership cards as well as seeking the Governor’s blessings, he thanked the Governor for receiving them into the APC fold.
