The Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has commended UK-based Councillor Adekunle Osibogun for his newly released book, Constitutional Democracy in Africa, describing it as a timely and insightful contribution to Africa’s democratic development.

She gave the commendation during a courtesy visit by Osibogun, the re-elected Cabinet Member for Education and Children’s Services representing Buckingham Ward in the United Kingdom, to the NiDCOM Headquarters in Abuja.

Dabiri-Erewa praised the work as a vital addition to Africa’s democratic discourse, stressing that it underscores the crucial role of constituencies in fostering intentional, accountable, and people-centered leadership across the continent.

“This book is both timely and necessary. It sheds light on Africa’s democratic journey and emphasizes the importance of strong constituencies in shaping credible leadership.

Councillor Osibogun’s efforts will go a long way in deepening public understanding of governance and democratic accountability in Africa,” she said.

Councillor Osibogun, who also previously served as Deputy Mayor of Buckingham Town, explained that the book seeks to open conversations around governance challenges and democratic reforms in Africa.

He revealed that he is currently on a promotional tour of the book, beginning in Nigeria and with planned stops in South Africa and Botswana.

He expressed gratitude to Dabiri-Erewa and NiDCOM for their support and encouragement, noting the commission’s consistent role in strengthening diaspora engagement with Nigeria.

“I sincerely thank Hon. Dabiri-Erewa for her leadership in diaspora affairs and for supporting efforts like mine, which are aimed at fostering dialogue on governance across the continent.

My commitment is to continue building bridges of knowledge-sharing, especially in Nigeria and Africa at large,” Osibogun said.

Dabiri-Erewa reiterated NiDCOM’s commitment to encouraging and supporting contributions from Nigerians in the diaspora toward the growth of democracy, good governance, and national development.

She described Osibogun’s initiative as a shining example of how Nigerians abroad can positively influence policy, governance, and scholarship back home.
