The Katsina State Government has been commended for its approach to inclusive governance through grassroots budget consultations.
Speaker of the Nigerian Youth Parliament (NYP), Aliyu Idris Zakari, made the commendation in a statement sent to our Correspondent in Gombe adding that the initiative by Governor Dikko Umar Radda, is a practical model of participatory democracy.
The initiative involves holding town hall meetings in all the 361 political wards across the state to conduct needs assessments and gather citizens’ demands ahead of the 2026 budget.
Aliyu Zakari described the effort as a transparent and participatory approach in addressing the needs of the people by ensuring that Government policies and resource allocation truly reflect the priorities of the people.
He also praised the State’s Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Alhaji Malik Anas, for effectively coordinating the citizen engagement process.
According to him, “this is a shining example of transparent and inclusive governance,” urging other states to adopt similar models to build trust between Government and citizens, particularly the youth.
The Speaker reaffirmed the Nigerian Youth Parliament’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote youth inclusion, participatory budgeting, and accountable governance nationwide.
End.
