The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced August 18 2025 date for the resumption of the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
According to a statement released on the Commission’s official X handle on Friday, the exercise will start with an online pre-registration phase on INEC’s portal [cvr.inecnigeria.org] allowing eligible Nigerians to initiate the process from the comfort of their homes.
“One week later, on August 25, physical registration will commence at INEC offices in all 774 local government areas, as well as other designated centers nationwide.”
INEC said the CVR will offer citizens the opportunity to register as new voters, update their voter details, and replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
The commission noted that the initiative is a continuation of its commitment to expanding voter access and enhancing electoral participation.
This nationwide rollout follows the successful CVR exercise recently conducted in Anambra State ahead of its off-cycle governorship election.
INEC urged Nigerians especially those who missed out on the Anambra registration to take full advantage of the new registration window.
“Voter registration is the foundation of credible elections. We urge all eligible Nigerians to seize this opportunity to get registered ahead of the 2027 general elections,” the statement read.
