The immediate past Governor of Gombe State, Senator Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, has declared that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is strongly on ground in Gombe State.
Senator Dankwambo, who represents Gombe North Senatorial Zone in Nigeria’s red legislative chamber, made the declaration before an expanded stakeholders meeting of the PDP in Gombe State.
The meeting had in attendance the party’s two senators, four out of the five PDP House of Representative members, many top notch stalwarts as well as many party members.
The political atmosphere in Gombe has recently been charged following the coming together of some opposition elements which many see as a threat to the wobbling PDP, the major opposition party in the State.
But reacting to recent happenings affecting the party in the country and particularly in Gombe State, Senator Dankwambo, the PDP leader in Gombe State explained that the party is strong, firm and fully on ground in the State having all its structures intact.
According to him the expanded stakeholders meeting was called to enlighten it’s members about the happenings in the party at the National and State levels after a series of other high level meetings were held.
Dankwambo said, it is only the PDP that has conducted its Congresses adding that “we’re not talking about contest, but building the party to greater and enviable heights”.
Senator Dankwambo also used the occasion to describe former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, Current Vice-President Kashim Shettima as leaders in the North East zone who are still loved and cherished.
Earlier, the Gombe State Chairman of the PDP, Major General Amnon Kalaye Kwaskebe (rtd) called for more unity among the party members and urged them to focus their interest in sustaining the party which is what will assure them of victory ahead.
All the party’s elected representatives and stalwarts spoke on the need for members to remain united and steadfast.
End.
