A suspected killer soldier has confessed to have joined the army so as to be able to deal with Amotekun operatives, NewsSpecng learnt.

The Osun State Command of the Amotekun Corps alleged that one of its operatives, 35-year-old Samuel Tope, was killed by a soldier identified as Opejobi Fiyinfoluwa in Ijeda-Ijesa, Oriade Local Government Area.

According to a statement issued on Sunday by the Corps Commander, Adekunle Omoyele, the incident occurred around 5:45 p.m. on Saturday.

The soldier, dressed in military camouflage and reportedly accompanied by unidentified individuals, allegedly attacked the operative without provocation.
The statement claimed that Fiyinfoluwa, a newly recruited soldier, approached the Amotekun post in Ijebu-Jesa earlier in the day and made threatening remarks, including a declaration that one of his reasons for joining the army was to “deal decisively” with members of the Corps.
Shortly after, the soldier and his group reportedly intercepted Tope, who was riding a motorcycle, and launched a brutal assault.
He was allegedly struck on the head with a blunt object, causing him to fall from the bike.
The attack, which reportedly lasted nearly 20 minutes, left the operative unconscious and bleeding profusely.
The suspects then fled the scene on a commercial motorcycle.
