No fewer than 100 women in Gombe State have benefited from a N5 million Velocity Humanitarian Foundation empowerment programme powered by renowned entrepreneur, Engineer Aliyu Mohammed Kombat.
The 100 selected women from across the State were empowered with N50,000 each to start or boost their petty trades and occupations. The event was held on Sunday at the Gombe International Hotel.
Aliyu Mohammed Kombat, who was represented at the distribution of the empowerment package by his associate, Adamu Aliyu Ibrahim, said the initiative was aimed at providing capital for deserving women to set up or expand their businesses.
According to Adamu Aliyu Ibrahim, the beneficiaries were selected from all the 11 Local Government Areas of the State to ensure widespread impact.
Secretary of the Foundation, Malam Safiyanu, explained that the gesture was part of the foundation’s mission to support less privileged members of the society through humanitarian and charity services.
He revealed that this was very first phase of the Foundation’s business support programme adding that there are plans to empower youth too in subsequent interventions.
Some of the beneficiaries of the empowerment programme expressed their gratitude to our Correspondent over the positive impact the entrepreneur’s support will make in their lives and that of their families.
Salamatu Sa’ad from Akko Local Government and Aishatu Aliyu from Gombe Local Government commended Engineer Kombat for the initiative, saying it would greatly benefit them.
For Maryam Ishaqa Aliyu, a local food vendor from Tudun Wada community, she stated that the N50,000 donation would help her expand her “Awara” business.
