The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has inducted 98 young professionals from 12 Member States into its Young Professionals Programme (YPP).
The induction was carried out from May 20th to 21st May 2025 at the ECOWAS Training Centre in Abuja, according to a statement by Mr. Joel Ahofodji, Head Communication unit, ECOWAS Commission.
Ahofodji said the ceremony underscores the Commission’s strategic investment in youth as catalysts for regional integration and development.
The ECOWAS Young Professionals Programme (YPP) is a key initiative to bring dynamic, skilled youth from across the region into the Commission. Its goal is to inject new ideas, foster talent for regional cooperation, and build a future pipeline of professionals. The recent induction provided participants with deep insights into ECOWAS’s structure, strategies and integration goals through interactive sessions, preparing them to shape West Africa’s future. The YPP underscores ECOWAS’s dedication to empowering youth as vital agents of peace, integration and sustainable development, aligning with its 2050 vision of an “ECOWAS of Peoples.”
