Cross River: SMEDAN, MEDA partner First Lady office

Cross River Microfinance and Enterprise Development Agency (MEDA) has reached a pact with the Office of the First Lady of the state.

The partnership, seeks to implement comprehensive development programs for Women in Agriculture, Market Women and women-led Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) across the state.

The initiative, according to the pact, is strategically designed to strengthen significant economic development through targeted women’s empowerment.

Director-General of Cross River MEDA, Mr. Great Ogban, conveyed this commitment during a recent working visit with the governor, Prince Bassey Otu and his wife, Bishop Eyoanwan Otu.

Ogban also informed that the partnership would boost the shared vision for advancing opportunities for women entrepreneurs in the state.

On his part, Director-General of SMEDAN, Mr. Charles Odii, eulogised the governor’s wife for her contributions in MSME and the development of other sectors in the state.

According to Odii, “The passion of the Cross River governor’s wife for humanity has taken her beyond development boarders.”

Special Adviser on Gender Mainstreaming and Chairman, Humanity Without Boarders Empowerment Initiative, Dr. Inyang Asibong, enumerated the several achievements of the foundation as well as vistas of opportunities for partnership in order to speed up development engagements.

Stakeholders involved in the synergy also hinted that details of the components and implementation timelines of the program, will be shared in the coming days to encourage active participation of women across the state.
