Governor Sherrif Oborevwori Senior Special Assistant on Civil Societies and NGOs , Comrade Victor Ojei, has resign his position pledging to stand With the People of Delta State Above Position and Politics
In an open letter the former SSA popularly known as ‘Wrong Box ‘ said “for clarity, I will not defect to the APC. I remain a socio-political activist whose loyalty is to truth, justice, and the ordinary people of Delta State. While I once admired President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reforms in Lagos, the present aggressive political conversion of states into APC strongholds threatens our democracy, which thrived on plurality during the PDP’s leadership between 1999 and 2015.
I refuse to be part of a system that claps while our people drown. I will continue to advocate, speak, and stand for the people of Delta State.”

Your Excellency,
With deep reflection and unwavering love for the people of Delta State, I, Comrade Victor Ojei, popularly known as Wong Box, hereby tender my resignation as Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Civil Societies and NGOs. This resignation takes effect from the 25th of April, 2025, bringing to an end a tenure that commenced on the 2nd of August, 2023.
When I accepted this appointment, it was driven by a genuine hope to bridge the gap between government and grassroots communities, to lend a voice to the voiceless, and to champion meaningful change. My intention was never for personal gain but for advocacy, activism, and partnerships that would uplift the lives of ordinary Deltans.
However, along the line, I encountered the harsh reality of a system resistant to innovation, progressive ideas, and developmental collaborations. Every effort made to attract international NGOs, developmental partners, and impactful projects was consistently stalled or thrown into oblivion. What should have been a pathway to growth for our state became an arena of unfulfilled promises and endless bureaucracy.
Projects that could have transformed Delta State’s economic and social landscape, creating jobs, empowering widows, protecting vulnerable communities, and modernizing our security architecture, were met with silence. Not once since 1999 has a policy been put in place to guarantee monthly income for the average Deltan or to offer them tangible hope for their safety and prosperity.
In fairness to Your Excellency, I remain grateful for the opportunity to serve. Initiatives such as the Save Delta State Security WhatsApp Platform, which brought together security agencies and grassroots stakeholders, stand as testament to what we can achieve when unity meets purpose. But a lone tree cannot make a forest when starved of support.
Delta State urgently requires political will. If loans must be taken, let them be invested in securing lives and providing opportunities for the people. Let technology light up our streets and empower the forgotten communities in our rural areas. Anything short of this is a betrayal of the trust placed in leadership.Breaking: Oborevwori SSA defy his directives… pledge his loyalty to the masses of Delta

Though I may have resigned from this office, I have not resigned from my passion or my people. My conscience is clear, my heart remains with Delta, and my resolve is unbroken.
Let it be recorded that Comrade Victor Ojei, Wong Box, chose the people when others chose positions. I stood where many bowed. And in God’s time, I believe the people will rise to embrace genuine leadership, free from chains and political puppeteering.
May God bless Delta State and the dreams of every suffering Deltan.
