In a political landscape where youth voices often struggle to be heard, Chisom Jane Ikechukwu has emerged as a force to be reckoned with. From the courtroom to the corridors of power, the young legal practitioner has not only built a thriving career but also shattered barriers to claim her place as Deputy Speaker of the Nigerian Youth Parliament.
A native of Awka, Anambra State, Chisom’s journey has been one of ambition and unshakable resolve. Armed with a law degree from Lead City University and further expertise from the University of Pennsylvania, she quickly made her mark in the legal field. But her calling extended beyond law—she wanted to be a voice for her generation.
Nominated by the Anambra State Commissioner for Youths, she joined the Nigerian Youth Parliament, where each state is represented by three members. When the time came to elect a Deputy Speaker, Chisom refused to be sidelined. The Speakership had gone to the North, and by tradition, the Deputy Speaker was to come from the South. Yet, powerful forces sought to pressure her into stepping down.
“It shall never be in the history of my life that I step down for intimidation or oppression,” she declared, standing firm against the odds. With unwavering determination, she campaigned tirelessly, rallying support and proving that leadership belongs to those who dare to claim it. Her victory restored the Deputy Speakership to the Southeast and sent a powerful message: Nigeria’s youth will not be silenced.
Now the 002 at the federal youth level, Chisom is using her platform to drive policies that empower young Nigerians. Passionate about partnerships that create opportunities, she continues to push for initiatives that equip the next generation with the tools to succeed.
In a country hungry for bold leadership, Chisom Jane Ikechukwu is more than a rising star—she is a movement, inspiring countless young Nigerians to stand their ground, defy limitations, and claim their rightful place in history.
