As the political climate in Nigeria heats up towards 2027, Students of College of Nursing Agbor in Delta State openly rejected Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, during a public gathering.

The moment unfolded when a Delta-based Master of Ceremony (MC) attempted to rally the crowd by leading a song in her honour, by singing “Na our mama be this ooh,” but the nurses swiftly and loudly reaponded with, “Na your mama be this ooh, nor be our mama be this ooh.”

The public rejection surely sends the signal of what Nigerians are passing through in this present APC led Federal Government.

Political observers have described the event as both shocking and telling as many see it as a demonstration of the frustration felt by ordinary Nigerians towards the ruling class.

While some believe the rejection was rooted in political differences, others argue that it reflects a broader dissatisfaction with the current administration’s policies and governance style. The nurses, by taking this stance, have sent a strong message to leaders, respect and acceptance must be earned, not demanded.

Deltans have historically been known for their courage and direct approach to leadership matters. Unlike other regions where political loyalty may be feigned, Delta people have consistently spoken their minds without fear or favor.

The nurses’ action is yet another example of this fearless spirit, reinforcing the belief that governance should be about true representation, not forced allegiance.

This incident will likely remain a significant talking point in Nigeria’s political discourse. It serves as a reminder that leadership, whether at the national or state level, must be built on trust and genuine connection with the people. As reactions continue to pour in, one thing remains clear—Deltans will always stand their ground and refuse to be coerced into accepting leaders who do not align with their aspirations.
