A US based Nigerian, Patience Ndidi Ofure Key has thrown her weight behind the Lagos Corper who condemned the country.
Uguamaye who was summoned by the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for her statements on TikTok about the terrible state of the Nigerian economy and governance, has since apologised for her comment.
However, Ofure Key said there was nothing wrong for the young lady to have aired her voice about the activation in the country.
She said: “As a patriotic Nigerian, mother, leader, and advocate for good governance, I, Patience Ndidi Ofure Key, unequivocally stand in support and solidarity with Ushie Rita Uguamaye, a brave National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member who courageously spoke out against the harsh realities of our nation’s economic situation.”
The former Edo State Governorship Candidate 2024 said the corp member outcry was a painful reflection of the state of fear, oppression, and suffering that Nigerians endure every single day.
She stressed: “Nigerians are living in a country where the truth is criminalized and silence is enforced, while the suffering masses continue to bear the burden of failed leadership. Rita’s candid expression, highlighting the terrible governance and deteriorating economic condition, mirrors the experiences and frustrations of millions of Nigerians who daily face poverty, insecurity, injustice, and systemic neglect. Her courage to openly articulate the pain and suffering of our people should not be silenced or met with intimidation by the NYSC or any governmental institution.
“It is appalling and disgraceful that instead of addressing the legitimate concerns raised by Rita, the NYSC, a governmental institution, chose to threaten and intimidate her. Is this the democracy that we claim to uphold? A government that cannot stand criticism is a government that has already failed.”
Ofure also painted a picture of nothing seems to be working in the country from the educational sector to the health sector.

Japa Syndrome is a national crisis—our brightest minds, our best doctors, our most talented professionals are fleeing Nigeria in droves because they have lost hope in a system that has failed them.
To the Nigerian Government: You Cannot Silence the Truth
