Plane crashes while landing at Toronto airport – reports

A Delta Air Lines plane has crashed while landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport, reports say.

Local media reports suggest up to eight people are injured.
The airport says it is aware of the incident involving the plane, which was arriving from Minneapolis.
It adds that “all passengers and crew are accounted for” and that emergency teams are responding to the incident.
Photos on social media show the plane flipped upside down in the snow.

Toronto Pearson International Airport in a statement confirming the incident stated inna social media: “Toronto Pearson is aware of an incident upon landing involving a Delta Airlines plane arriving from Minneapolis. Emergency teams are responding. All passengers and crew are accounted for.”
No fewer than 80 people in board were evacuated from the crashed plane, the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), stated in a press statement.
“Delta Air Lines Flight 4819, operated by Endeavor Air, crashed while landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport in Canada around 14:45 local time,” the statement says, adding that the flight departed from Minneapolis.
The FAA statements goes on to say the Transportation Safety Board of Canada will be in charge of the investigation.

Three people were said to have received critical injuries, medical transport service says

Ornge, a medical transport service in Ontario, says it has transported three people with critical injuries to different hospitals, including a “paediatric patient” and a man in his 60s.
It adds that three air ambulance helicopters and two of its “Critical Care Land Ambulances” were dispatched to the scene.
The man in his 60s was taken to St Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, while another patient was transported to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto.
