The Civil Society Scaling up Nutrition in Nigeria (CS-SUNN) has commended the Gombe State Government for procuring 5,830 cartons of Ready to Use Therapeutic Foods (RUTF) to be used in addressing child malnutrition in the State.
Gombe State Coordinator of CS-SUNN, Comfort Mukollo (Mrs) made the commendation during the organisation’s quarterly meeting where she also announced that the coalition will embark on a quarterly tracking of nutrition budgets in the State.
The Gombe State Government in collaboration with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), recently took stock of the cartons of the RUTF after the Government had keyed into the Child Nutrition Match Fund supported by generous mix of donors including Government of the United Kingdom.
The Gombe State CS-SUNN Coordinator who described the delivery of the cartons of RUTF in the State as a welcome development in addressing child malnutrition in Gombe State, however explained that the nutrition budget tracking was part the Coalition’s efforts to promote investment in nutrition in the State.
She said the nutrition budget tracking activity will be carried out under the UNICEF/CS-SUNN Project which focuses on increase and prompt release of nutrition funds as well as creation of nutrition budget lines in MDAs and extension of paid maternity leave to six months.
Comfort Mukollo also appreciated the state Ministry for Budget and Economic Planning for always carrying CS-SUNN along in all its activities and budget processes.
She pledged the coalition’s readiness to always promote and advocate for more investment in nutrition activities in Gombe State.
