Cross River governor, Prince Bassey Otu, says in spite of the dwindling financial resources accruable to the state, he would not leave any project started by his administration uncompleted.

Otu stated this during the inspection of over 29 kilometres Oban – Nsan road in Akamkpa local government area of the State, being executed by his administration and awarded to an indigenous construction company, FaithPlant Global Services.

Otu who spoke through his Special Adviser, General duties, Barr Ekpenyong Akiba, informed that the thick forest hitherto served as a den for criminals and hideout for kidnappers but at present, there is fresh air, development, hope and access.

“This is breaking new grounds and leaving indelible footprints on the sands of time, this of course, remains a project that can be said to be a legacy project for this government.

“We have a lot of partners and we are improving our internally generated revenue, we are struggling to recover our lost finances, we are also aware that the House of Assembly is hoping to ensure that we attract more support at all levels so that this project will be achieved,” the governor assured.

According to him, many people believe that political leaders don’t keep to their promises, are deceitful and only come to the people during electioneering periods because they want votes.

“Ours,” Otu remarked, “is a definition of exceptional leadership because we were here during campaigns and we promised the people of Akamkpa access, today we are covering the field, attracting meaningful development and showing deep concern for the citizenry.”

He further thanked the House committee on works for their sacrifices and commitment while ensuring that they live up to their responsibility in terms of oversighting.

The governor also applauded the contractor handling the project for the level of work and competency achieved, as well as the Commissioner and staffers of the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure for due diligence which is enhancing development in the state.

Otu added that the road when completed, would not only create vistas of opportunities for the citizenry but will inject fresh breath to the National park.
