In line with the Delta State Governor Rt Hom Sheriff Oborevwori directive to keep the state clean, Warri South Local Government officials ensured the popular Igbudu Market usually with beehive of activities was shut down for the excercise
The monttly environmental excercise which took plqce on Saturday 25 withnessed good compliance as monitored by Newsspecing online Newspaper.
The Council officials who supervised the excercise were cautious except for a minor rancour that occurred at the front of Cono1 filling Station where a minibus was intercepted om an allegation pf violating the law.
However, the issue was resolved amicably when traders and people stood their ground that the bus had parked on the spot without movimg since 7am.
An elderly man who was im his Toyota Corrolla was blocked and told to provide his permit and he told the young man he was going to the hospital. His plea fell to the deaf ear of the young man who was on black attire all through..
Some people who were watching the drama started asking rhytorical question sayimg ‘do you need a pass as a sick person to go to the hospital’
Just at that junction an official wearing Warri South Local Government reflective jacket came and cleared the vehicle and its occupants to go.
Many of the traders who were on standby waiting for the 10am set time for end of the sanitation excercise heaped praises on the council officials for not arresting perceived violaters arbitrarily.
The council Chairman, Dr Michael Tidi, had earlier on reinstated his commitment to ensuring that the council remains one of the cleanest in the state.
He said all hands have been on deck to ensure that there is total compliance and sensitization on the importance of keeping the environment clean.
The Warri South Council Chairman does not like dirt and it’s his intension and wish that Warri South remains the cleanest local government in Delta state. And he is going to do it by the grace of God and with the cooperation of the people
