2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day: Gov Inuwa salute fallen heroes

Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has praised the sacrifice of Nigeria’s fallen heroes in keeping the nation one as well as giving their lives for peace to reign in different parts of the world.

The Governor showered these praises to the fallen heroes through his Deputy, Manasseh Daniel Jatau (PhD), during the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebrations in Gombe.

The Deputy Governor who announced a donation of N6 Million to the Nigerian Legion in Gombe State on behalf of the State Government also layed a wreath in honour of the veterans, both dead and alive at the Pantami Township Stadium, Gombe.

In his address, Dr. Jatau relayed the Governor’s heartfelt appreciation to the security agencies, religious and traditional leaders, and the people of Gombe State for their collective efforts in ensuring the peace that the state currently enjoys.

He noted that the Remembrance Day serves as an important occasion to honour those who have sacrificed their lives in the pursuit of peace adding that the event was particularly significant as it combined two major observances: the launching of the emblem for the year’s Remembrance Day and the laying of wreaths in honour of fallen heroes.

According to him, peace is a cherished goal for all human groups, and it is through the efforts of military personnel and other security agencies that peace is maintained.

He acknowledged the ongoing challenges faced by those who have been impacted by the sacrifices of these heroes, including widows, orphans, and those who have suffered permanent disabilities.

The Deputy Governor urged citizens to support the Nigerian Legion through donations, emphasizing the importance of helping the families of the fallen and veterans. He also called on Gombe residents to work in cooperation with security personnel to ensure the safety of the state.

He expressed gratitude to the various security agencies for their roles in maintaining peace and stability, and prayed for continued strength and safety for all Nigerians. The ceremony concluded with a collective prayer for peace and security in the state and the nation as a whole.

The Chairman, Gombe State Legion, Sgt Adamu Dogo (rtd) appreciated the support of the Government of Gombe State under Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for remitting the 6 million naira pledged during the last armed Forces Remembrance Day.

He thanked the Governor for creating opportunity to their members to serve as security officers in 12 schools in the state for the past 22 years.

He pleaded with the State Government to assist them with an office accomodation and a vehicle for easy mobility.
