The All Progressives Party (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Social Democratic Party (SDP) Chieftains in Kwara State set aside their political differences at Prof Wale Sulaiman mother, Alhaja Belawu Akanke Sulaiman’s Fidau prayer, held at Ajase-Ipo, Irepodun LGA.
The event paraded arrays of personalities from the frontline political parties in the State.
The Chieftains included the Chairmen of the APC, PDP, SDP as well as serving and former members of the National and State Assemblies.
The historic event is a testament to Prof. Wale Sulaiman’s outstanding leadership and cosmopolitan character, which have been hallmarks of his distinguished career. As a highly respected neurosurgeon, academician, and politician, Prof. Sulaiman has consistently demonstrated his unwavering commitment to fostering unity and celebrating the diversity that strengthens Kwara State.
Throughout his illustrious career, Prof. Sulaiman has showcased his exceptional leadership skills, earning him numerous accolades and recognition. His cosmopolitan character has enabled him to connect with people from diverse backgrounds, making him a beloved figure in Kwara State and beyond.
Speaking on ‘The Importance of Fidau’, the former Chief Imam of Unilorin Muslim Community, Dr. Yusuf Kolawole Jumaah admonished leaders to ” avoid mismanagement of the economy, even as he charged parents to fill in the gap created by government’s inefficient management”.
The Islamic scholar charged leaders to ” Shun corruption and inelastic acquisition of wealth”. He commended Prof. Wale Sulaiman for his professionalism in the medical field, attributing the feats to the diligence of his mother. The Cleric emphasized the benefits inherent in impacting knowledge, which Prof. Sulaiman represents. He acknowledged his philanthropic gestures and commitments to training future medical professionals across the globe who will utilise knowledge acquired to foster a better society.
*In a related* development, Muslims were admonished to serve Allah diligently and be kind to humanity with their wealth and positions.
Dr. Y. K Jumaah, gave the admonition at the 8th Days Fidau prayer for the repose of the soul of Late Alhaja Belawu Akanke Sulaiman; mother of Professor Wale Sulaiman, the Pro – Chancellor and Chairman Governing Council Of Federal University of Health Sciences, FUHSI.
He encouraged children of late Alhaja Belawu Sulaiman to engage in humanitarian acts, such as provision of water to communities in need, scholarship for indigent students, empowerment of the less privileged in the society to serve as ongoing charity and attract reward and Allah’s mercy for their late mother.
Dr. Jumaah charged the families of the deceased to continue to unite themselves and sustain the legacies of late Alhaja Belawu Sulaiman.
Speaking with newsmen, Professor Wale Sulaiman, described his late mother, Alhaja Belawu as a beacon of love, kindness, generosity to everyone around her and the community in general.
He who noted that the memory of their late mother will forever remain in their heart, adding that her legacy of faith and kindness will be their guide in life.
In his remark, the His Royal Majesty Olupo of Ajase-Ipo, Oba Ismail Yahaya Alebiosu expressed appreciation to everyone who graced the occasion and those that contributed to the success of the fidau prayer.
Olupo of Ajase-Ipo, passionately thanked all the traditional rulers in Kwara South for turning out in large numbers to the 8th days fidau prayer for Late Alhaja Belawu Sulaiman. The fidau prayer was attended by prominent personalities, including, the Representative of Emir of Ilorin, the Jamb Registrar and Former Vice Chancellor University of Ilorin, Prof. Isiaq Oloyede, incubent Vice Chancellor, Unilorin , Prof. Abdul-Wahab Egbewole, Prof. Yusuf Olaolu Ali (SAN), Kwara State Chairman of APC, Prince Sunday Fagbemi and his PDP counterpart, Alhaji Babatunde Mohammed, and Prince Saheed Popoola.
It also included Hon. Yinka Dallas, Igbomina Youth Assembly, Members of Women In Politics, Kwara South Reliable Forum amongst others.
