The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris has set four critical areas of focus for information management in the coming year and beyond.
The four areas, according to Idris are adoption of technology; grassroot engagement,
engendering Public Debate to reflect the will of the people and Countering Misinformation and Fake News:
Idris said this has become necessary so as to bridge the gap between government policies and the aspirations of the Nigerian people, which is central in the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He spoke yesterday at the 48th National Council on Information and National Orientation held in Kaduna State.
The Minister stressed that “The essence of governance lies in its ability to connect, communicate, and inspire collective action. In this regard, information management is not merely a tool of administration but the lifeblood of democracy and development.”
He therefore appealed to the states commissioners of information to approach the task with dedication.
“I would like to encourage everyone to approach this task with dedication, innovation, and a sense of national purpose. Together, we can ensure that public information management becomes a cornerstone of inclusive governance and a catalyst for national development,” he said.
