The Commissioner of Transport, Enugu state Gerald Otiji has applauded MTN telecommunication PLC and others for their timely delivery of the newly constructed Abakpa junction and Anambra Airport intersection road.
In a statement signed by Reginald Facah, Coordinator, Community Liaison Initiative of CCGE, Otiji said it will be a smooth ride this yuletide season as MTN Nigeria has rehabilitated and reconstructed the 107km x 2 dual carriage way by also opening the entrance into the Road leading to Chinua Achebe Airport in Umueri, Anambra State.
The telecommunication company has also opened up the new-look Abakpa junction road to the Penoks intersection in Enugu.
The companies involve in the road construction are, federal government, MTN, RCC, CCGE and ARUP. Again works to ensure smooth drives along the highway by Reynolds Construction Company (RCC) will soon commence from Amansea to the Junction of chainage 45+200, Onitsha Bound as well as the subsequent take-off of the completion of the outstanding segments.
According to him, “By this development, driving in and out of the airport will be much easier with the construction of proper lanes as this will give direct access to the Enugu – Onitsha dual carriageway. Passengers plying Enugu highway from Abakpa junction to the Penoks intersection and the outlet towards Opi and Nsukka and out of the state towards Kogi, Benue and FCT Abuja will no longer contend long traffic in these areas.
“Enugu residents living within the Trans Ekulu axis will have full and unimpeded access to the dual carriageway. Which will further ensure smooth flow of traffic within that corridor. MTN and other companies involve in these road construction have done a fantastic job by their timely delivery and at the order of the state governor, Dr. Peter Mbah.
Speaking, Dr. Reginald Facah, Coordinator, Community Liaison Initiative of CCGE noted that since MTN Communications took over the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the dual carriageway, the story has changed for the better as he recounts how MTN opened up the Amawbia Flyover during last year’s yuletide season.
