Addressing a press conference at the university senate building, Vice Chancellor Phoenix University Agwada, kokona LGA of Nasarawa State Professor Abdullahi Bala said the university which the first indigenous private university in Nasarawa State has commenced academic activities on Monday 7th October 2024 with 260 Students who gained admission into different courses in the faculties of Computing science, Applied Science and Agriculture as well as Social Sciences and Management
.
According to him the university which is bound for the stars has hit the ground running after putting up Solid foundation which includes Stakeholders engagement, relocation from it liaison office in Keffi to the permanent Campus in Agwada, inauguration of principal officers and organs of the university, commencement of lectures to be followed by investiture of the pioneer Chancellor and the matriculation of the pioneer students.
Professor Abdullahi Bala said as part of efforts to give the great and promising university credibility as a citadel of learning prominent personalities with proven integrity have been appointed and inaugurated as chairmen and members of phoenix university Board of trustees and the governing council.
” I’m happy happy to announce to you that the visitor and founder of the university Dr Abdullahi Adamu CON, Turakin Keffi is the BOT chairman while the former Minister of Communication and Digital Economy Professor ISA Ibrahim Ali Pantami, former Executive Secretary National primary healthcare department agency Dr Faisal Shu’aib and the vice chancellor Nasarawa State university Keffi professor Sa’adu Hassan Liman are members of the BOT
The governing council is headed by the immediate chief of staff to former president Muhammadu Buhari professor Ibrahim Gambari.” he added.
On the upcoming event professor Abdullahi Bala will feature the investiture of an accomplished international Business man, a philanthropist and Chief Executive Officer of Global energy limited Dr Muhammadu Ndimi OFR as the pioneer Chancellor with the award of Honorary Degree of Doctor of Humane letters honoris Causa.
The occasion which will take place in the university campus by Eleven o’clock in the morning professor Bala said it will also feature the matriculation of 260 pioneer students of the university.
The vice chancellor who appreciated members of the press for partnering with the university to give the best and quality university education to the people equally commended Nasarawa State Governor Engineer Abdullahi Sule for the award of scholarship to 92 indigenes cutting across the 13 LGA’s , completion of Sports complex and the reconstruction of 24km Kokona junction to Agwada road.
He the university has set a standard with the the state of art teaching and learning facilities, conducive atmosphere through the green initiatives.
Professor Bala however called on the people of Nasarawa State to secure admission into the university as it is a place to be considering its strategic location, standard, affordability, security and quality assurance.
