The new Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo and his deputy, Dennis Idahosa were on Tuesday sworn in .
The Chief Justice of the state, Daniel Okungbowa, administered the oath to the governor and his deputy at the stadium at Samuel Ogbemudia, Stadium.
This marks an end to the eight-year reign of Godwin Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
They both swore to uphold the constitution and work within its dictate as well as see to the well-being of the people of the state.
Supporters of the party at the stadium cheered all through the oath-taking processes meant to usher in a new administration in the state.
Sen. Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) defeated the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Barr. Asue Ighodalo and that of the Labour Party Barr. Olumide Akpata, in the September 21 governorship election.
The ceremony was attended by some dignitaries including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo and a former Edo Governor Adams Oshiomhole among others.
