Cross River governor, Prince Bassey Otu, has called on Nigerians to be calm over the various government’s reforms as good things emanate through sacrifice.

According to him, the current administration is taking deliberate steps to address the prevailing economic hardships facing the country, hence the need for all to continuously and fervently pray for the nation.

Otu made the appeal during the celebration and installation service of the General overseer of Faith Mansion World Centre of testimonies Calabar, Dr. Emmah Isong, as an Archbishop.

The governor who was in attendance at the event with his Akwaibom counterpart, Pastor Umoh Enoh, as well as Bishops and other clergy from within and outside the country, maintained that the nation is undergoing a challenging phase similar to those faced by other great countries, reasoning that, through constructive reforms, those nations later emerged strong.

“The Nation is going through difficult times but, almost all great nations have experienced such challenges.

“The key difference is that those nations prepared for tough times, but Nigeria never did. That is why we need to make sacrifices since good things come only through sacrifice.

“Instead of being despondent, let us unite with the government for a better Nigeria,” the governor said.

Otu also felicitated with the Archbishop who jointly and same day celebrated his 60th birthday, 40 years of serving God, 35 years marriage anniversary, and 15 years as a Bishop, tagging it a-5 star celebration.

The governor described the Archbishop as a true man of God and a blessing to Cross River applauding him for the legacy in nurturing individuals in the ways of God, while promoting good values in the state.

Otu said: “God has used this man to bless Cross River in numerous ways. You, (referring to Isong) have guided our men and women toward God’s path and instilled positive values in the state.

“Your success story is a lesson for us all. God can elevate anyone to great heights if they are willing to work for Him.

“Now that you are on a higher pedestal, God will use you to function in an even greater capacity for a more significant impact,” the governor remarked.

Otu further announced the appointment of Archbishop Isong as chairman of the anti- illegal tax agency in the state, a role he held during the immediate past administration of Prof Ben Ayade.
