DIG of police conduct on spot assessment in Kano amid ongoing protest

The police authorities Wednesday 6 August 2024 conducted a comprehensive on the spot assessment of the situation in Kano State.

The assessment, according to a statement by SP Abdullahi K9iyawa, Police Publuc Relations Officer, Kano Command was carried out by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Department of Logistics and Supply, supervising the Northwest Geopolitical Zone, DIG Bello Makwashi.

“DIG Makwashi commended the officers and men of the Kano Command for their exceptional resilience, professionalism, and dedication in containing the situation and maintaining public order.

“The DIG charged the Commissioner of Police and senior officers to sustain their efforts in ensuring public safety, robust intelligence gathering, and proactive measures to address emerging security trends.

“He emphasized the importance of community engagement, collaboration, and timely response to emerging issues.”

The Deputy Inspector General of Police, the statement added, ” reiterated the Nigeria Police Force’s unwavering commitment to protecting citizens’ rights to peaceful protest while preventing criminal elements from hijacking such protests.

“He assured the public of the Police’s resolve to maintain law and order, ensure public safety, and uphold the fundamental human rights of all citizens.”
