Breaking: Police disperse violent protesters throwing stones on Gombe Government House

There was palpable tension in Gombe, the Gombe State capital following skirmishes that was experienced in some parts of the town as a result of the end bad governance protest that was expected to be a peaceful one.

Our Correspondent reports that the Police had to disperse some youths who were throwing stones at the Gombe Government House situated at the centre of the town.

In a telephone interview with ASP Buhari Abdullahi, the Gombe State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) by 11:00am, he said “the situation is under control and the Police Commissioner and other heads of security agencies are here to manage the situation”.

He stated further that “We’re managing the situation, the situation for now is relatively calm, we’re trying to talk to them so that they consider dialogue with the Government and peaceful dialogue”.

While the procession in some parts of the State capital is going on peacefully, Police had to use teargas to disperse protesters that are resorting to violence in some other places.

Reports also has it that all posters of the Governor at the main entrance to the Government House were vandalized.
