The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has picked Malian Éric Chelle as the new head coach for the Super Eagles.
NFF had taken a decision to appoint a foreign coach after the disastrous outing of the Super Eagles could only pick a single point from six.
This lead to the resignation coach when Finidi George who felt betrayed by the Nigerian football body.
Chelle, who used to coach the Malian national team, was chosen over other candidates like Belgian Tom Saintfeit.
Chelle holds French nationality and spent his whole career in France, appearing for Martigues, Valenciennes, Lens, Istres, and Chamois Niortais. At international level, he represented Mali.
His last coaching career in May 2021 before that of Mali was head coach of US Boulogne and then dismissed by on 11 December 2021, after the club gained three points in preceding ten games.In 2022, Chelle was appointed manager of Mali.
His record as a coach shows he was in charge of GS Consolat football club from 17 September 2016 to 30 June 2017 and played 30 games , win 16 drew 6 and lost 8 with 53.33,%.
He coached FC Martigues from 1 November 2017 10 May 2021 playing 80 games and won 35 drew 24 and lost 21 with 43.75,,% winning rate.
He then went to Boulogne from 21 May 2021 to 11 December 2021 played 16 games won 2 drew 5 and lost 9 which shows a12.50% winning rate before he was appointment by Mali 6 May 2022 played 22 games and won 14 drew 5 and lost 3 with 63.64%.
In total he has played 148 game as a coach and won 67 drawing 40 and losing 41 which shows a 45.27,% winning rate.
