One person confirmed died while several others were injured when a section of a nine-storey building under construction collapsed in Asaba, the Delta State capital on Saturday July 27.
An eyewitnesses stated that the late male victim was working with the cement mixer when the walls on the ninth floor collapsed on him, killing him instantly
Meanwhile many residents around the vicinity had complained about the quality of work and questioned if the owner obtained approvals before embarking on the construction project.
Delta State Government has sealed the project site, ordering an investigation into the cause of the collapse.
The Commissioner of Urban Renewal Michael Anoka was also on the ground to ascertain the situation of things, said an investigation will be launched into the incident to ascertain the circumstances leading to the collapse.
“There will be a further investigation into the building and the findings will be made public,” he said.
