The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has launched a Centre of Excellence for the country.

The centre located in Abuja is to provide Nigerians with technical and vocational skills for the digital economy.

Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, at the launch urged NCC to collaborate with more stakeholders to ensure the centre turns out to be what it ought to be, a true centre of excellence for Africa.

He stressed that no society can prosper without connectivity, which requires skilled human resources for proper functioning.

According to the minister, “My expectation is that NCC will collaborate with more stakeholders to make this initiative a true centre of excellence for Africa. There is no society in the world that can prosper without connectivity. The connectivity requires human for its proper functioning.”

Dr. Aminu Maida, the Executive Vice Chairman of NCC, in his remarks noted: “This is the first time in Nigeria when our radio engineers will have the opportunity to come and touch and feel what a radio looks like.”

Maida explained that the Centre will spur a lot of innovations given the kind of skills that will be acquired at the centre.
