Kwara-born world-class Neurosurgeon, inaugurated as the pioneer Pro-chancellor and Chairman Governing Council of FUHSI

In a bid to revolutionize Nigeria’s Education System through innovative ideas, credible leadership, and strategic partnerships, His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR has appointed Kwara-born Canadian and American trained Neurosurgeon, Prof. Wale Sulaiman, CON as the inaugural Pro-chancellor and Chairman of Governing Council of the Federal University of Health Science, Ila Orangun (FUHSI). The appointment was announced by the Permanent Secretary of General Services, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Nnamdi Mbaeri on Friday 14th June.

On Thursday, 4th July 2024 the inauguration of the newly appointed board members of the Federal Universities, Polytechnics, and Colleges across Nigeria was held at the National Universities Commission, Abuja. Prof. Sulaiman was inaugurated alongside other distinguished appointees as the first pro-chancellor and chairman of the governing council of FUHSI.

In his inaugural press statement, the world-class Neurosurgeon and Physician Executive commended the transformational initiatives of H.E. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR in the Nigeria Education sector, a critical component of the renewed hope agenda. He expressed his profound gratitude and high sense of responsibility for the opportunity to serve the country once again in such a capacity. According to him, “Nigeria education sector is set out for transformational development through research, innovation, financial reform, innovative ideas and strategic partnerships nationally and internationally. I am excited to be part of this transformational journey.

The choice of the excellent members of the boards of FUHSI represent the President’s commitment to excellence, capacity and capability. As a team, we would work together to promote academic excellence, research, best quality medical education and train much needed healthcare personnel that are competitive anywhere in the world.”
