Sexual Harrassment: Minister drags Permament Secretary before Head of service

The sexual harrasssment saga in the ministry of Foreign Affairs is being handled by the relevant authorities, an aide to the Minister, Alkasim Abdulkadir has said.

Abdulkadir was reacting to the alleged sexual assault levelled against the Permanent Sectetary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ibrahim Lamuwa by Mrs Simisola Ajayi.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Yusuf Tuggar had reported the Permanent Secretary to the Head of Civil Service of the Federarion, Folasade Yemi-Esan following a report by a female staff of the ministry.

Tuggar had in the letter dated May 27 2024 expressed concern and urged the Head of Service to handle the issue accordingly.

The letter was titled, “Re: Official Complaint Regarding Sexual Harassment Of Mrs Simisola Fajemirokun Ajayi By Ambassador Ibrahim Adamu Lamuwa (Permanent Secretary Ministry Of Foreign Affairs).”

The letter reads: “I am compelled to write to inform you of a formal complaint against the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Ibrahim Adamu Lamuwa, on allegations of sexual harassment.

“Bearing in mind the gravity of the matter, I feel it necessary to draw your attention to it and ask that you handle it accordingly.

“Please find attached a copy of the complaint I received via email. May I also assure you that I remain available to provide you with any assistance required in discharging your responsibilities.”

When our correspondent sought confirmation from the Mr. Alkasim Abdulkadir, Special Assistant on Media and communications to the Honorable Minister of Foreign Affairs, he said no comment.

He however said the matter is being handled by relevant authorities.

He said: “No comment the matter is being looked into by the relevant authorities”.
