A farmer in Ondo State, Abraham Achibong, has been arrested for allegedly defiling his eight-year-old daughter.

The Ondo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps arrested the suspect.

The Corps equally arrested another two suspects for their alleged involvement in criminal activities in the state.

In a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the command, Mr Aidamenbor Daniel, sighted on Friday, the suspects included one Abraham Achibong, who was accused of defiling his eight-year-old daughter.

The other suspects were Ojo Oluwasola and Agu Matthew.

According to the statement, the state Commandant of the NSCDC, Mr Ibiloye Oluyemi, paraded the suspects at the command’s headquarters in Akure, the state capital.

Achibong was said to have been arrested for allegedly having sexual relationship with his daughter in the Ile-oluji Oke Igbo Local Government Area of the state.

Oluyemi added that the suspect, who had since confessed to the crime, would be prosecuted for rape, molestation and incest.

The commandant said, “Mr Abraham Achibong, aged 40, a farmer was arrested for molesting his own daughter, who is now 14 years old, since she was eight years. This had been going on for six years until a few days ago when the girl (name withheld) summoned courage to confide in her teacher when the Ondo State Primary Health Care officers visited her school on a sensitisation programme on the human papillomavirus vaccine.”

The commandant noted that the other two suspects – Oluwasola and Matthew – were arrested for stealing and fraud respectively.

“A professional conman (Mathew) duped one Mr Mba Daniel of the sum of N5.94m by impersonating the protocol officer to the governor of Enugu State. The complainant has a parcel of land acquired by a well-known person in Enugu, and a compensation was promised.

“Since the compensation news went viral, the suspect approached the complainant as the protocol officer to the governor and informed him about the release of a cheque of N9m for his compensation but some civil servants need to be settled to get the cheque out,” he said.

According to him, after collecting a total sum of N5.94m, he closed down his shop in Akure and fled.

“The suspect was tracked and arrested at Enugu on the 16th of May, 2024. Oluwasola, male, 28 years old, on May 20, 2024 at about 11 am in Ifeoluwa community, Shagari village, Akure, attempted to steal a vehicle within the community. He was apprehended by the community and handed over for profiling and investigation” the NSCDC commandant added.
