Nigeria commends Chad elections, says it victory for democracy in Africa

Nigeria has hailed the recent election in the Republic of Chad, which has brings to an end military rule.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar on Monday in a statement described the election as victory for democracy.

Tuggar also in the statement signed by his media aide, Alkasim Abdulkadir congratulated the President-Elect of the Republic of Chad, Mahamat Déby, and the people of Republic of Chad on the elections.

“With the prevalence of unconstitutional changes of government in some African countries it was a reinforcement of participatory democratic ethos to witness the electoral transition in Chad” Tuggar said.

The Minister the statement further stated, stressed the need for all parties to respect the rule of law to avoid a breakdown of law and order.

The Minister also reiterated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to sustained, friendly cooperation between both nations, especially in the fight against terrorism in order to achieve a future of shared prosperity.
