A Zamfara-based philanthropist, Alhaji Sanusi Sarkindawaki-Maituta, has established 21 Ramadan feeding centres across the state to assist the less-privileged.
Malam Muhammad Lawal, the Chairman of “Maituta Akida”, a charity funded foundation, disclosed in Gusau on Sunday.
He said Ramadan feeding is part of the NGO’s charity support to the public in anticipation of reward from Almighty Allah.
“The feeding committee is going to be chaired by Alhaji Sa’idu Maishanu, former Chairman, State Radio and Television Services.
“The gesture is an intervention from the philanthropist to cushion the effects of hardship caused by the current economic challenges in the country,” he said.
He said one feeding centre was established in each of the 13 local government areas of the state, while eight centres were established in Gusau.
Lawal said arrangement had been concluded to start the feeding programme in all the 21 Local government areas of the state on the first day of Ramadan.
He said, “In each centre, we are going to feed 100 beneficiaries daily, and this will last throughout the month of Ramadan.
“A total of 2,100 persons are expected to benefit from the gesture of daily Iftar (breaking of fasting), and in total we are expecting to feed about 56,700 persons during the entire period.”
