Troops eliminate bandit in Zamfara, rescue captives

Troops of forward operating Base (FOB), Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD) Dan-Marke  on 29th February , 2024 eliminated one bandit in Zamfara State.

According to a statement by Suleiman Omale, Lieutenant, Information Officer Operation Hadarin Daji,  the troop, responded on intelligence reports about bandits movement around Kairu Village near Dan-Marke in Gummi LGA and immediately mobilized and engaged the bandits in a gun duel that lasted for several hours.

Omale said due to superior fighting power, the troops denied the bandits freedom of movement forcing them to retreat with gun shot injuries, neutralized one bandits and recovered one operational motorcycle.

He also stated, “Similarly, On the 29th February, 2024, troops of the OPHD reacted to a distress call about bandits activities at Unguwar Sarkin Musulmi village in Kaura Namoda LGA, the troops mobilized immediately and cordoned the area, advanced aggressively and successfully rescued a Driver and a passenger. On sighting the troops, the bandits took to their heels.

“The troops pursued the bandits, conducted a confidence building patrol in the area and cleared the road for commuters to have easy movements.

“Additionally, the OPHD troops deployed to Batsari general area in Katsina State have conducted a well planned clearance operation, and  coordinated a fighting patrol and ambush in their area of responsibility.

“The troops had contact with the bandits and engaged in a gun duel ensued during which the motivated troops neutralized 2 bandits and recovered one operational motorcycle of the bad elements while others fled into forest with gunshot wounds.

“The gallant performance and successes of the troops were commended by the General Officer Commanding 8 Division, Major General Godwin Mutkut who charged them to maintain the tempo and not rest on their oars until peace and tranquility is restored in the Northwest.”
