Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Thursday commissioned three gun trucks.

The trucks are part of the efforts to boost the firepower of the Corps to enable its officers and men wage full scale war against criminals in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The Corps Commandant-General, Dr. Abubakar Ahmed Audi, said the move became necessary to strengthen the combative capacity of its anti-crime squad to rid the nation’s capital of miscreants and criminal elements.

Audi also said there are provision for more firearms for the squad to address the rising rates of crimes related to ‘one chance, vehicle snatchers, illegal miners, armed robbery, kidnapping activities, among other vices.

The CG warned the officers that will man the gun trucks not to harass, intimidate citizens or misuse the arms but to make judicious use in eliminating these evil-doers making good citizens have sleepless nights.

Earlier, the FCT Commandant of NSCDC, Olusola Odumosu stated that the provision of the gun trucks for special operational in the command is a call to redouble effort in making the CG and the country proud.

He revealed that the command will commence training and retraining of officers and men to prepare them ahead of the tasks before them.

Olusola while mentioning some of the challenges in the FCT command, said that they need alot of operational vehicles, gadgets to respond to emergency situations.

He also appealed for permanent training ground within the FCT to strengthen their activities and land to build accommodations for officers to carry out their functions effectively.

Earlier, the CG commissioned a newly built furnished accommodation in Kwali Area Council, FCT, donated by the Executive Chairman of the council, Hon. Danladi Chiya.
